If VidBlaster can scale down a 1600x1200 screen image into a streamable sized image, why can't it do the same with my camera set in HDV mode? That would be handy because then I wouldn't have to keep switching the modes of my 3 cameras back and forth.

It can and it will. But it will first ask the camera if it can output in a lower resolution, as scaling down a few dozen frames each second is a lot of work and it will put a substantial load on the CPU.

Thanks Mike. I also use CamTwist on the Mac and don't see a difference when I have the camera in HDV vs DV mode, but of course now that I think about it, I also have a Kona LHe card that's doing the down-convert--maybe a Serious Magic card via HDMI would work to do something similar on the PC/Windows. Hmm, I may have to give that a try.

So what happens if you select the camera in VidBlaster? I still don't see your problem..

When I'm in HDV mode, the camera isn't seen by VidBlaster.
I thought you were talking above a future enhancement, not an existing one.
Sorry for the confusion. Perhaps I need to look at things, but as soon as I switch to DV vs HDV VidBlaster can see the camera.

Ah. That must be either a feature or a bug in the camera's USB driver. Perhaps the camera simply does not stream in HDV. Whatever it is, it is not a problem in VidBlaster. If you don't see the camera, Windows says it's not there. Try the camera's manufacturer support desk.
