Hello everyone,

I have been extensively testing Videblaster 1.17 Beta in the last few days and I am having many little issues and wanted to see if someone is having some fixes available.

My rig:

Server 2008 R2 64bit
6 Core Intel i7 @ 4GHZ
12GB ram
Gigabyte UD7 x58
BlackMagic Studiolink SDI ( w. HDMI )
Soon: Second Blackmagic Intensity HDMI card
2x Logitech Live Pro 9000
2x Logitech 905
1x Sony EX1
1x Canon HDV cam with live HDMI out

I am attempting to stream a 720x406 feed

The issues:

1. EX1 via SDI input on BlackMagic:
I have not managed to get an image to Vidblaster using the SDI out from EX1 to the BlackMagic Decklink. I have pretty much used all various resolution and FPS combinations without any luck. The only way I can get live video out from the camera has been using ilink / firewire.
Using the firewire actually is not a big issue in itself and I prefer it to allow another camera to feed thru the Blackmagic card.

2. EX1 via firewire - no audio
But with Firewire I cannot select the Audio input to come from the EX1. The USB cams which would be used for mainly closeup shots of products are the only selectable Audio sources along with the onboard Audio card. Due to the lag + Audio quality of the USB cams this is not a feasible option for my use. The EX1 is intended to be the main source to shoot the presenter together with the audio.

3. CANON VIXIA HF10 cam via Blackmagic HDMI
SImilar like the EX1 SDI I have not been able to get an image from the decklink to the Vidblaster. I can get image fine with the blackmagic software, but not within Vidblaster. EDIT: I assume this might be caused by 1280x720 not working atm within Vidblaster.

4. Audio to Vidblaster
I can not port Audio to Vidblaster from either firewire nor Blackmagic Decklink. There is no option in the pulldown menu for either source, only the onboard audio card and the Webcams

5. Audio video delay
The webcams are much faster then firewire source and audio is advanced for about 12 frames on the Wecams; and about 2 seconds on the firewire video
Is there any software that allowes finetuning the Audio delay? I have tried to search the net without any luck yet.
Would be a great feature for Vidblaster to allow tuning the delay of each camera.

6. Blackmagic Source Resolution
The only resolution when sourcing from the BM decklink is to select 1080P. I have tired for days to get 1280x720 to work without any luck. The problem of having to select 1080P is that the USB cameras video feed becomes very very slow and laggy. 720P would be acceptable but unfortunately it is not possible to set the resolution individually for the USB cams

7. Vidblaster stream resolution
I cannot set the resoltion to 720x406 for my stream settings. Resolutions above and below are selectable, just not my desired 720x406. Not a huge issue if I let FMLE do the encoding, but would be nice to just use vidblaster for the streaming and not add another program to the mix.

The biggest hurdle for me at the moment before purchasing Vidblaster is the audio issue, I would really like to find a suitable solution without spending too much more on hardware with my already completely exhausted budget :-)...

gollard,

Welcome to the Vidblaster forum. This is a great resource for new and experienced VB users.

Most of your questions have been asked and answered here on the forum. Try doing a search for keywords. No sense in reinventing the wheel. :D

Good luck and report back on your progress.

Regarding the last sentence of the problem?
As with any mixing of computer-programs-video-sound, there are incompatability issues. Sound problems are usually
corrected by taking all outputs, through a MIXER and that output looped through the computer sound card.

Ordered a Xenyx x1204USB mixer, but am worried that the Delay function will not be sufficient for the job. IRRC from the all the searches that I have done, it appears that a 0.5sec delay is max. Also I am worried that it won't be a straight delay, and more of an echo effect.
ALso just the looping will also not give any fine tuning of the delay, unless there would be an additional device like a hardware delay device like the KRAMER VA-256XL AUDIO DELAY ( US$500...) mentioned in another post. I had dowloaded the virtual cable software, but was utterly overwhelmed on how to set up this piece of software and gave up after a few seconds.

Thanks, would have loved to make a few backup questions in some of the other posts, but oh well...

I also have sync issues with video and sound, but my problem is hardware. The machine I'm using just isn't fast enough for the vidblaster, I am saving the pennies to replace it.
There is delay software you can try, but you may need to have 2 sound cards to use them.. and your on-board doesn't count as one by the way.

hope that helps a bit

Awesome - will try that out - looks very promising. THANKS so much for this link

So from looking at some other posts 720P resolution is not working with Blackmagic cards? I that correct?
WIll there be a fix for this in the future? I had purchased a scaler to be able to downslize some 1080P source, but now realzied that 1280by720P just doesn't work in Vidblaster. Or is this just a problem for version 1.17 Beta?

the 1280 not working must also be the cause for my Canon Vixia FF10 not to be able to source to VB.

JOHN - THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

My USB mic just arrived today, still waiting for the analog delay module and mixer to arrive ( ups ground), but within seconds of using the USB mic and onboard audiocard I have my firewire cam running in SYNC!!! Radiodelay did all the magic! I am so happy. Could have saved me some bucks, this works so perfectly. I can adjust delay on the fly in case the audio is going to shift. I patched the Audio output on my onboard audio with a cable directly into the line in also of the onboard audio - which then sends the signal to VB ( have to set line in as default device to be seen by VB )

Thanks again John!!! You wouldn't have to know of another little proggy that would delay the USB webcam video by any chance? :D :D :P :P

Gollard could you draw a diagram for that patch? :-)

I am thinking of creating a show around all these tips :-) would you watch? :-)

Did Anyone ever have any success with getting 720p or 1080p from canon camera into Vidblaster?
