Now you've had a chance to play with the new transitions, I want to hear your thoughts. Do you like it the way it works now (1), do you need the same functionality for the players (2)? Or would you rather have seen a Transition module that effects all Take buttons simulataneously (3). Or don't you like the Pro version at all, and prefer to wait for the Studio version with its Preview and Program monitors, and a Switcher with preview and program bus (4)? Or am I missing something (5)?

Thanks for your feedback!

Hi Mike,

I love the transitions in that the smooth fade gives tha ability to really give a polished look. However, the first thing I did was try to figure out how to get in and out of the player with the transition, and noticed it was only active on the cameras.

Hence my vote for a global transition module. Would love to be able to to transition from video and images to live instead of camera to camera...

Nice work brother, this tool truly is amazing.

Hi Rance,

Thanks. I think you misunderstood though. The transition has only been implemented for the Camera modules right now, based on the outcome of this poll I can add the same to the Player modules (option 2). So if you want transitions switching from/to/between players, you can either choose 2, 3, 4 or 5 depending on what kind of functionality you prefer. You can change your vote if you like.

Mike:

I used the transitions today in a live stream and recording. I think it would be wonderful to have it for the players too.

It is a great function.

By the way, I sent you an email regarding a surprise I discovered in VidBlaster Pro that will be a sensation. In fact, I bet you didn't even know what you created, but I can assure you, what you've got will be incredibly popular as soon as it is discovered by the video editors of the world.

I agree... I'd love to have the transitions with the players as well, either globally or separate settings. Vidblaster just keeps getting better and better. I love showing it off to friends.

Thanks Bruce. You did not vote, right? Can't choose?

Some more feedback:

The terminology I'm used to is when I click a button called 'TAKE' that means a quick cut with no transition. my other type of button is usually called 'FADE' or the like, instead of 'CUT' like you have.

In my mind 'CUT' and 'TAKE' mean the same thing. I'd like to see the buttons say 'FADE' and 'TAKE'.

Could be semantics but maybe it's important to you ...

If voting #3 means having separate transition definitions for cams and players that would be cool, :) consider me #3 if thats what it means

AFAIK a take can be anything from a hard cut to a fade or wipe. Just like I made it. Usually there is no Cut button, but I added it as a short cut (no pun intended) to the hard-cut-take, as you use that most often.

Option 3 would be a seperate module defining what all Take buttons do, much like in a professional control room (although that would only have one take button). If you want to set individual transitions for cameras and players, you should choose #2.

Well, if you want to get into semantics... FADE would imply a cross dissolve, TRANS would be a better term for transitions in general, and I find CUT to be preferred over TAKE. But I do agree, CUT and TAKE are the same.

As far as UI, I need the preset bus... can't wait for Studio!!!

Hi I just joined the forums after seeing what VidBlaster Pro can do. I would love to have a Fade UP/Out be added to the overlay/LowerThird areas too.

Thanks all for voting. Upcoming v0.40 will have support for transitions added to both player and video effect modules.
