I love what you have done so far with VidBlaster, but I would like to see an Overlay feature addet to each Video Effect Module.
This would make it possible to make a graphical overlay to for example fill in the black bars when using "Split, Side by Side"
Also is it possible to add a "Split, Vertical Corrected" where side A is moved 25% to the left and side B is moved 25% to the right. This would show the center of each camera used, usually where the talent is.

Thank you :)

I think it would be more logical to use the Video Overlay modules for this. But isn't what you are asking a background image?

I added this for you in the upcoming v0.40. I am still in doubt if "Split, Vertical Corrected" is the correct description? What I really do is center each frame, therefor it could also be called "Split, Vertical Centered"? I take votes!

Hello again
Actually I did mean an Overlay feature...
It would give us the ability to cut from a full frame of the talent:

to a doublebox looking, for example, like this:
http://serenity.homepage.dk/test/doublebox.jpg
Doing this using the overlay function already in VidBlaster is next to impossible.
What the current overlay is great for is for example station/show IDs, in combination with using it for lower thirds...

PS: You can call it "Split, Vertical Centered" if you like :)
I am more interested in the functionality than the name...
I think the right way to do this is to have unique overlays for each video source and those overlays would show up in the output video when you display them as split or quad boxes.

I still think this should be a background feature, not an overlay. I.e. to make this
http://serenity.homepage.dk/test/doublebox.jpg
you'd take a split vertical (granted, one with some spacing) and then load up a fixed background. Sure, an overlay would enable you to cut parts of the inserts, but you would have to create unique overlays for each effect. Backgrounds could be more generally used. Also an overlay uses a lot more resources (it's applied for every frame) than a background. Lastly, there already exists an overlay module. Keep in mind that eventually I want to introduce the option to lock an overlay module to another module, ie. it would switch on/off together with the module it's locked too.
Thoughts?
Would this be done with a "Background" Module? and then just feed in camera inputs?. I understand overlays and using transparecy. Is that what you mean by background?
No. I mean a background image for the VE module. The effect would be overlayed.
Ok I think I know what you mean. Load a background in VE module then select cam inputs to include.
Would these background images need to be .png's just like overlays or will they be capble of using gif's,bmp's, and jpg's
It would be the same formats as supported by the Player. Of course the image would be sticky, so you won't have to load a background each time you change source or effect.
That would DEFINITELY work for my needs Mike!
Added to v1.04. I decided to take this a little further and make the background a special source selection, which is also more consistent to the way the VE module works. This means you can use a player to load a background image as you originally asked for, but it can just as easily be a moving background or any other video source. Together with the new feature to be able to select a video effect module as source (http://vidblaster.com/forum/index.php?topic=396), and so as background, the possibilities are really endless! You can in fact create a feedback loop and create some nice video effects, which made me think of those disco video clips :)
waiting patiently for this Mike
Thanks :-*
