We have been live streaming through VB for about a year now using a Behringer 802 Mixer. No problems after we got it configured correctly.
We have connected 2 XLR mics and used 3-5 players for commercial inserts.
Now for some reason we have developed a problem. It doesn't work anymore.
We were getting a high pitched hum through our microphone connections and static from our commercials.
We replaced the cord that connects the MAIN OUT to the mic jack on the computer. This cleared up the problem with the mics. We have tried different cords from the headphone jack to a LINE IN on the mixer but the problem has not cleared up.
Can connections go bad?
Has anybody else had this happen?
What connections are others using?
We have a live streaming scheduled for Oct 2-3 and really need to get this problem resolved.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Don ,
1. Is there a headphone jack on the 802? I have a 1204 and I have one to monitor mixer output.

2. Are getting feedback from mixer or do you monitor from headphone jack on PC.

3. Laptop or PC? If PC you should be using Line In / Line Out. Mic input to sensitive but you only option if on Laptop.

I ask this because I have had sound card problems similar to this and had to isolate the mixer to find it.

I would disconnect from Mic input on PC to test mixer first monitoring from headphone or MON out on mixer.

Yes connections can go bad! especially if using 1/8 plugs or RCA. XLR for everything is the way to go!

1. There is a "PHONES" jack but I have never used it. Is this what you are talking about?

2. Headphone jack on the PC is routed back to the INPUT LINE 3/4 (L) to play commercials through the player in VB

3. On a PC using the mic jack - not sure what or where the Line In/ Line Out is located?

It appears that the sound problems are coming from the mixer but I don't know how to monitor the mixer either. I have a very limited knowledge of how the mixer works and my location does not offer people with the expertise to help me out. I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Thanks

Don

On a normal PC the sound card should have at least 3 connectors on it in the back of PC. Line Out(Speakers(Green)), Line In(Blue), and Mic(Red). You will have better results using a Line In for output audio of mixer for the stream.

Plug you headphones into Phones jack(on the 802) and monitor the mixer output. If unwanted noise is there then you have problem with mixer. If noise gone, problem is with PC soundcard or cables connecting.

This link may help you find Line In / Speaker out on your sound card (http://www.connecthowto.com/tag/sound-card/) (typical sound card, Your's may vary).
Try to avoid Microphone input if you can.

THANK YOU ALLAN!
The information that you provided and the link were what we needed to fix the problem. If we could ever be any help to you, let us know.
Just curious, what do you live stream or film?
We live stream pool tournaments in the Midwest and Western United States. Thank you again,
Don

Glad I could help Don! I have prolly spent at least 12 hours tinkering to get my Beringer 1204 mixer to interface nicely with VB.

We broadcast 1-2 hours a week. We are a WELS Lutheran Church and School and we live stream and record for playback our worship services and other assorted worship related content. We also record directly to DVD burner for re-broadcast on local Cable Public Access TV Channel within 3 hours of our Sunday worship service. See the link 1goodshepherd.org/new (http://1goodshepherd.org/new) or link at the bottom of my signature to go check out our last recording!

p.s. I want to also give you the link to a picture slideshow of our video setup (http://1goodshepherd.org/our-video-setup/).

There you have it.
Good Luck
