my .mpg files are not read by VidBlaster ("cannot read file") but I can click and play the file just fine when Windows media player is used. What's up?

Further complication, The computer in question is a modern Vista Home premium unit with lots of power.
However, trying the same thing at home using my very old XP computer allowed the .MPG files to load and run. So, is this maybe a "Vista" thing?

Must be a codec thing, maybe you installed some codec package that intercepts the call (before VidBlaster gets it) and then returns the error.

Can you remove the poll please?

@Barry: do you know how I can remove this poll without deleting the post?

Thanks

I'll ask a friend of mine that may know what a "codec package" is and remove it for me. Hopefully, the Windows Media player will still work after that.
I appreciate your idea.

ps
I'll read the instructions on how to "remove a poll". Hopefully it is easier than removing a stump.

I typically output my videos for VidBlaster in .MP4

These files will load into VB no problem, but typically won't play. I solve this by "re-encoding" the video and it usually works out great.

I know it's an extra step, but i get very small and HQ files with an .mp4 encode.
