I'm the editor/producer of our church services at http://1goodshepherd.org/videos/ and on regulars WordPress posts at http://1goodshepherd.org using PodPress.

I'm looking to upgrade our video production equipment/software to make a good quality output for the website AND DVD.
Can VB Pro out put video out of my PC video card with good enough resolution to record directly to a DVD recorder or DVR from the live show?

Currently I use raw video from my (one and only) Sony HD cam and edit with Adove premere elements output to AVI. I then have to encode with WME to wmv and upload manually. Then I use the same AVI to make a DVD with authoring software(WinDVD).

I am looking to go to a remote 2 cam system and use Vidblaster for live switching and encoding for wmv for Wordpress. An then eventually live stream.

Is it possible to record+stream+output to DVD recorder/DVR at the same time? Or would I have to upscale to get out to the DVD live?

My second issue is; Are there transparent overlays that can display multiple lines of text (Hymn lyric)?

How about transparent power point slides to overlay program video?

See some of my videos at http://1goodshepherd.org/videos/ (http://ttp://1goodshepherd.org/videos/) for examples of what i currently do with one cam and A LOT of editing after the fact.

I look forward to you answer and i look forward to being a Pro and /or Studio customer.

Thank you

Hi Allen,

Yes you can route video to a video output (look up using a 2nd monitor in help) and record that as upscaling is done automatically. If you want to get the best possible resolution you will need VB Studio, in which case you can also use VidBlaster's internal recorder. Eventually I will be adding the DVD format too, so you won't even have to convert.

Overlays you load into VidBlaster overlay the whole image, it's up to you what parts you leave transparent and where you put text. You can use any source you like (incl. powerpoint) as long as you convert them to PNG files with of course an alpha channel for transparency.

Hi Mike. I am also interested in this question for a similar application. The difference is we presently send a composite video feed of the recorder output of our existing (crumby) system to a TV monitor in the mother's room. This provides complete live video of the service, multiple cameras, power point presentations, multimedia etc (as recorded) for mothers in that room. The proposal in our case would be that once we upgrade to VidBlaster, we want to also feed the mix to a DVD recorder as a backup should the HDD recording fail for any reason. The instruction in the help file seems to suggest using the 2nd VGA monitor which won't work for this application. I can purchase a VGA to composite converter I guess. Any other suggestions. Thanks. Eric.

Hi Eric,

Welcome to the forum!

Simply take the s-video/composite output on your PC and record that. Most modern PCs have that, as well as most laptops. If not, you can either buy a new video card, or buy that VGA2composite interface.

OK. Thanks Mike. So this will display the mixed production, not the Vid Blaster screen?

Yes, if you use the Output to External Monitor option (see Help), it will offer Program video. Of course you can also use the Recorder to record the video :)

OK Thanks again Mike. I have ordered a 4 input camera card and hope to try the whole setup on March 8. Just using the demo at this stage. I am hoping that by month end, the holders of the money will be impressed enough to fund the purchase. I will let you know how it goes.

OK. I heard you may make recording to DVD and option on the recorder. Did that happen yet? If so. Can there be 2 recorder modules. one for DVD and other for upload at different resolution?

Simply record in AVI or WMV, and use one of the free programs on your PC to burn that file to DVD.

Mike, how can you change the format from AVI to WMV? Our services take 20-30 minutes to save after recording on Vidblaster because of the huge AVI format.

There is a bug in Vista that makes dealing with huge files a pain as it is so slow, XP (and hopefully W7) is a lot faster. To answer your question: Help | Making a Recording :-X
