Video Effects just cuts to "Black"

I'm sure it is my fault but I've read the forums and the help and I can't figure out to do a quad screen. Please help.

Select Quad from the drop down list, choose the first two sources from the two drop down lists on the module, and #3 and 4 from the popup menu (right click). But I bet you knew that already as it's rather straightforward. Can't think of anything else though.
