View Full Version : ability to move the video overlay
I would like to see the ability to move the video overlay with the mouse because some lower3rds you can line up perfectly. If we had the function where we could move it like the pip screen this would help.

You can use PIP to do that now.

but it does not support an alpha channel does it?

I always just make my graphic the same size (in pixels) as my entire video. That way, I can always make sure I've lined up everything exactly the way I want it. I use Adobe Illustrator to create the images, and then I check the "export as artboard" when I'm making the PNG.

While it can be done with PIP, that just adds an extra step and module to the screen, which it would be nice to avoid. (following the KISS rule) I already want to minimize many modules since I only use them combined with others and never access them individually.

This is a good solution in some cases, there are a couple of drawbacks:
If you vary the broadcast dimensions you have to create multiple versions of the graphics. (although, you'd probably want to resize the graphic anyway so that's not that big of a deal)
There are times I just want to place a logo on the screen and the location will vary depending on the content. Creating several full-screen versions with the logo in different corners isn't very flexible.
This is a "nice to have" feature but not a high priority for me...

I put the overlay in a pip and the screen is black minus the lower third this defeats the effect.

On occasion, we have to move our scoreboard png. It would be much easier to click and drag rather than have to put in x y coordinates and see if they match up to where we want to position the graphic.
yeah with out the alpha channel its of no use.
any one else have ideas on this?

+1 on this request. For the uses mentioned above, and many more...
In theory the module can do it without extra alpha channel. Either the user creates a png that is 3x the video resolution in size, where the middle area holds the graphics and everything around is transparent. Or, VidBlaster adds the necessary transparent surrounding area (more difficult to implement). VidBlaster then simply use only the part visible in the window.

I get black in the picture where transparency is so I still +1 my idea. =)
i am sorry to bring this back up but i think it would help. Some times some fonts make it hard to line up. I mean add it in the preview and program module? Unless there is a fix around this?
