After five or six weeks of Vidblaster running smoothly for me, an old problem came back for me last week. If I try to record, while streaming, I get the following error message, which forces VB to shut down:

Access Violation 0x0281d600

If I record and save uncompressed, it will record, but will inevitably fail at some point later in the broadcast.

This was happening for me before, with several different versions of Vidblaster. After a half dozen reinstalls, and at least one complete reformat of the machine, I was able to get things running smoothly again. Nothing on the hardware or software side has changed.

Any ideas? What does this error mean?

I should mention that it doesn't always give that error message... more often than not, when I click "record", the record button lights up, but it does not begin recording, or show the video in the record module.

After going back (with a restore point), I was again able to record. Then upon upgrading to 1.21, I am having the same problems. When I try to change the temporary folder, I've noticed the "folder" images disappear. When I'm able to record, the folder images appear correctly. When I'm unable to record, they appear as shown in the attached screenshot.

Unlike many (most?) other programs, VidBlaster cleans up its temp folder when it no longer needs it so you can ignore that. As for the error, could be anything and may not even have to be related to VidBlaster. Run the usual tests (memory, DirectX, virus) and if that does not bring anything to light take down the profile. Make sure CPU usage is below 50% at all times to exclude buggy drivers and codecs.
