View Full Version : [done] Take On Stop feature (was: Set as default Camera/Player)
Currently right after playing a video the program window shows/freezeframe's the first frame of that same video file, wouldn't it be more logical to automatically switch back to the player/camera set as default? Then the show can go on and the mixer won't have to be present at his PC all the time to switch back to the camera after each video.
I hope this helps.
I don't think so. There are lots of situations where you want this behaviour, in fact it is quite common to switch to a camera before the clip ends, getting the last part of its audio to be present when the switch has happened and e.g. the host is live.
Aside from wanting to switch manually before the end, I see your argument, I'm still curious: When would a freeze of frame 1 be wanted?
Because even if there would be a default camera/player, you could still switch manually if you wanted and not use the feature. I just don't like the freezeframe.
You only end with the first frame if you have auto rewind on. If not, it just ends with the last frame. Which could be whatever you want it to be, e.g. a logo or black if you end your show with it.

I think there should be an option to automatically transfer to the source that is in the preview pane after a video finishes playing. - Not a default behavior, but an option that can be checked or unchecked.
Would this be a Take On Stop or Take On EOF?

End of file.
End of file.
Correct. However Take On Stop when the file is a looping video to make things lovely complex. ;)
I don't like complex :o
So when would you need a take on eof but not on stop?
Take on EOF mostly, example: HeinekenCommercial.avi ends and we switch back to camera 1.
Take on Stop, example: Intermission.wmv is looping a BRB message, on a stop-click we switch back to camera 1.
But if that's too complicated just forget take on stop, the first is more important. Thinking about it.. the second situation is useless as we can just switch the active window instead of stopping.
But I still don't understand when you would not want a take on stop (note an eof is also a stop). Which is why my original question.
Never. Sorry I confused things.
OK. So I'm suggesting to make a Take On Stop then, which of course will also take when EOF is reached, but not if you pause the player. Only problem is that this name also implies a Pvw>Pgm take if the player would stop, which is of course not what it does. Unfortunately, AFAIK, there is no unique way to describe a Pgm>Pvw take. If you know a better name for this flag then let me know.

In the mogulus studio (www.mogulus.com) they call it "Auto Transition to Cued Clip." Perhaps a variant of that.
Take On Stop added to v0.43, available shortly.
