View Full Version : What do you think of the new Camera II module?
I'd like to hear about your experiences with the new Camera II module. Have you been using it? Have you noticed any improvement in resource usage? Have you noticed any improvement in startup time? Does it fix problems you have with Camera I, or introduce new problems? In short, which module do you prefer, and why?
Please note a bug was recently fixed in v1.24. Also I am only interested in the video device aspect, screen capture and IP camera support should not be in this discussion.
I have been using it Mike.
Quality of video the same (but I run and osprey450e so not much adjustment needed)
Speed of load 100% faster
Resources seem flat between both , however I noticed my FPS on program lower with cam II module.(drops all the way to 7 FPS) ( probably something else causing it. need more testing time to confirm)
Is the poll open to voting? It shows "You may not vote on this poll"
Oh? That's weird, it works fine for me. I'll ask Daniel.
Hey Allan,
It should be possible to vote now :)
I guess I can remove Camera I then :)

Yep, as soon as it supports IP-cameras and Screen Capture! :)
I intend to create a new dedicated module for IP cameras. And one dedicated to screen capture. Then, if everyone votes #1 or #2 here, Camera I will be removed.

Okey, cool! And probably a wise decision. Maybe the IP-camera module should even be a IP Stream or similar, not limiting it to cameras but in the future all kinds of IP-based video streams? Just a thought!
Anyway, I think Camera I can go... :)

If Camera II is an improvement on Camera I, i think Camera I should go....
Though, I couldn't test Camera II any further since i purchased Vidblaster PRO.
In all... Camera I should go and its a very good idea to have separate module for IP Cameras and Screen Capture

Since there seems to be a problem using the Camera (II) module with BM Decklink cards in HD, I change my mind and would like to keep Camera (I) until it's been solved.
