it will prompt for product key or use trail and then closes.

Are you using a Intel Core 2 Quad or i7?
Did you do a clean install, uninstalling Pro first?
Version 0.42?

i did a clean install. i uninstalled pro first and yes 42. 41 worked but it was slow. you said to try it in pro config and see. never got that far because i removed 41. tried it on the Intel 3.4GHT working on getting the newer chips. the only other machine is a pentium D 2.8G

The program starts in true Studio config (full frame), figuring that's why people buy/try it. An HT doesn't come anywhere near specs for Studio (in fact not even for Pro). Give it a few weeks and I'll have a new Pro for you.

what about the pentium-d? it's the first dual core before the release core 2. die to the heat the -D gave off. ;)

Not even close. Quad or i7. Check Help | System Requirements.

Studio versions 0.41 & 0.42 also crashes for me after asking for a key.

Specs:
Intel Core2 Quad Q9300 @ 2.50Ghz
4GB Ram

On version 0.40 I never went over 21% CPU usage. Am I understanding correctly that it crashes because of insufficient hardware?

Mike
24 Feb 2009, 09:27
Certainly not in this case. So a clean install of 0.40 starts fine, a clean install of 0.42 not? If so, how far does it get?

Alminox
24 Feb 2009, 15:16
It displays the splash screen and the Key/trial screen and then crashes

What's this Uscreencapture program? Did you try disabling it?

Alminox
25 Feb 2009, 11:00
I uninstalled Uscreencapture, uninstalled VidBlaster 0.40, rebooted, did a clean install of VidBlaster 0.42, rebooted, and VidBlaster still crashes...

I do not know if this is relevant... But the Main window just blinks in the background before everything dissapears...

Would you be able and willing to run some test programs? If so, do you know how to copy an exe file? If so, please email me direct and let me know what time zone are you in.

Thanks.

Hi Mike!

First of all: thanks for this great product!

We have the sam error here, and it looks like the vidblaster crases if somthing was changed of the last setup!
For example: we conected 2 cams by firewire and save the config. next we close VB and disconnect one cam.
if we now start VB again, it hangs direct after the "serial dialog".
If we conect the second cam again ....VB Runs.

so.... if you need more testing or helb, feel free to contact me .... we have 2 different black Magic cards and many other stuff

regards
mike

@car-tv: That looks like another problem because the others have the crash right after installation. Best to make a new thread for this if you still have it in v0.43.

@nocturnal & @Tony: how about v0.43?

Nocturnal just reported the problem is still there. I wonder what you two have in common, that (so far) noone else has. Some program, or driver, most likely with an aggressive copy protection.

i update the drivers when there is a new one. i use this program called driver detective that lets me know if a new version is out. some times its from a different vendor. so i don't install.

Most likely a protected codec. Could be this (http://vidblaster.com/forum/index.php?topic=193.msg1174#msg1174) one? If not, cross reference your codecs list with others who have this problem and find one (or more) common codec(s) you don't have on a system that does not have this problem.

I just wanted to let you know, renaming that file also fixed my issues

:D

Thanks for telling. I will try to find a workaround if at all possible so you don't have to remove or rename this file.
