This week we broadcasted a press seminar for the Swedish Tax Agency. A presentation with 8 different speakers and around 50 Powerpoint slides. To avoid a situation where you end up cutting between speaker and PPT all the time we went for a PiP solution with both the Powerpoint and speaker visible at the same time. The PPTs where 4:3 and our production 16:9, so we simple used the extra width for a shot of the speaker. Due to the relatively low resolution we experienced some scaling issues on the small PiP but overall I think the concept worked out well. We also used two small Lifecams as a complement to our main camera. They ended up slightly soft in focus compared to our main camera, and their control software, ended up affecting both cameras at the same time instead of separately, which worked before. Beside that I think they worked well and did their job.
This time the seminar was produced and broadcasted in 640x360, but next similar broadcast will most likely be done in 720p and streamed at different resolutions.
Setup used:
1x Decklink HD Extreme capturing SDI from the close-up camera
2x Lifecam Cinema HD
1x Intensity Pro, capturing the PPT-slides through HDMI from a laptop.
We also did the audio part which was based around a mixer, 5 wireless headmikes and 2 wireless hand held mikes.
