I am trying my darnedest to get VIDBlaster, FME and Ustream to work together but running into a problem.

Ustream's instructions on how to set up FME don't seem to be complete and I am wondering how any of you are getting this to work.

I have FME 3.0 running but I am wondering how it connects to Ustream. I am seeing "rtmp://localhost/live" in the FMS URL and I am wondering if that should reference Ustream somehow? Ustream doesn't say anything about this in their instructions.

Thanks for any help on this.

The URL you have in there now is not correct. http://www.ustream.tv/fme-help - This link explains the whole process step by step.

Unless I am missing something I have done all that is discussed in this half butted setup page and FME will not connect to Ustream because this address rtmp://localhost/live that is in the FMS URL section to Stream to Flash Media Server is apparently the wrong one and no one seems to know what the correct address is....not even Ustream.

I must not be the only person that wants to use Flash Media Encoder with Ustream....I don't understand why no one seems to know how to set this thing up with VIDBlaster.

If anyone out there is using FME....I sure would appreciate knowing how in the dog gone heck you have it set up.

Randy, I agree the way Ustream works in combination with FME is far from user friendly (even though it used to be worse), but how about using a little less profanity on my forum? There's all sorts of people here including those that may be offended by it. Thanks.

As for your problem, try looking elsewhere. Maybe a firewall problem? I know many who use this setup, including me, and natfunk's reply was the correct one as is the URL rtmp://localhost/live. After loading your personal XML according to the instructions, FME should look something like attached image. Of course the audio settings will differ.

Thanks Mike

Well I found out one problem. I was trying to use the XML file in FME 3.0 and evidently it doesn't like it because I get all kinds of connection errors when I installed the XML file.

So I tried FME 2.5 and I don't get the errors but when I load the Ustream Broadcast applet the Start Broadcasting button is grayed out so I can't broadcast....so I am very puzzled at this point.

Well, I load my XML life into FME, and then FME just shuts down. Any idea why this may be happening?

I understand what you need, I had the same problem! The problem is the TWO entries you need for FME, you got to get this right. You get them from Ustream as a download, the codes are in a XML file for your channel and will identify FME to you!

But why do that?

Just use the VB Streamer Module direct without all that other #*(%^(*%%^!

P.S. If the XML file does not work do to a version problem for FME 2.0 to FME 3.0, just find a free XML reader and get your codes out directly. It will work, I did it before I changed to Streamer Direct, skipping the FME altogether.

I hope that helped, there is more but I can't write a long story right now.
