I have just downloaded and installed updated drivers (6.10) for my Datapath VisionSD4+1 from datapath.co.uk. The drivers seem to work fine, except for the annoying thing that Datapath changed device name/s from "Datapath Vision SD4+1 #1" to "Datapath Vision SD4+1 01" (/and #02 to 02"). Beats me why.

Therefore, if you update the driver VidBlaster won't recognize the devices if you use old profiles. Of course it is a simple thing to select the proper names, but it is a stupid step from Datapath's end.

I was going to tell them, but their support form is too long, I'l just send the Swedish reseller a note (he's a great guy ;).

OK, Markku Niku (Swedish reseller jmc.se) asked Datapath, got a prompt reply from them but could not answer here (since Markku is not registered). Instead he asked me to forward to the forum.

My quick understanding of the cause is that Datapath as fixed a bug and made the device "friendly name" more functional und future proof, on the expense of some backward compability. I am attaching the full response below:

Hello Markku,

The device names for kernel streaming are statically defined in the drivers .inf file.
For identification we have in the past used a co-installer to append these friendly names with an enumeration number based on the following:

1. Vision card Link ID preference.
2. Device enumeration order.

dplinks.exe is now used, remove this executable and edit the registry if required.

A total of 64 Vision inputs spanning 10 capture cards allowing 16 clients per input is a possibility, for this reason we append a number to the input/device/source filter.

If a user supplies a correct sequence of Link ID's to be used as input numbers then the friendly names must be re-written on each system boot.
Therefore if you are not using Link ID's and the system architecture changes, it is a possibility that the friendly device names will change.

The friendly name should always be in the format "Datapath Vision SD4+1 01" etc, without any '#', we are unsure of this error.
We have recently fixed a different bug in the number space for friendly name enumeration, Vision 6.1.3 at the following URL:
