Hi to everybody
I have just tested ATOMOS NINJA with vidblaster
using for output my BM Decklink Studio
It is Fantastic you can record in full 422 in any
format from SD up to HD.
I tested with 320Gb 2.5HD Samsung (not in tha compatibil list but works)
after formating HD it gives me about 16 hours recording in SD
720X576 PAl 422 setting.
I recorded for abaout 6 hours looping some videos on vidblaster
play module.
After recording I connect my hd with ATOMOS DOCKSTATION
to my GRASSVALLEY EDIUS WORKSTATION and EDIT my
file with any problem.
tomorrow I wil post photos
Thanks for posting this Ludovico, there are a lot of people looking for a hardware recording solution. You forgot the follow up or did you run into problems?

Both the Atomos Ninja and it's slightly bigger brother, the Samurai, are very good portable recording units. I was involved with recording a video interview with their Sales Director in the UK, Robbie Fleming, in which he shows and talks about both units. You can see it on YouTube at http://youtu.be/-g9MncY-0W8?t=10s
The picture below is one I took of a Samurai unit as Atomos supply them, in a nice little Peli case including a range of accessories. The main differences between the two models are (a) The Ninja has HDMI in, whereas the Samurai has SDI/HDSDI, and (b) the Samurai will also play out over SDI, although both will play back on their built-in LCD screen. There's more info about them on the main Atomos site and also on my Zenvideo site.

What about using the Atomo device with VideoOut module to the HDMI output of the video card ?
Do you see any inconvenient ?

As long as your graphics card is set to output a standard broadcast video signal (as opposed to a PC pixel resolution) over HDMI, then the Ninja should record it. For example, it will record 1280x720 50p (or 60p), but not 1280x1024 60p, because the former is a standard HiDef broadcast video format, but the latter is only a computer resolution.
