Hello All, I am finally a licensed VidBlaster user and totally thrilled about learning and using this great product. Kudos to Mike for his diligence and hard work to keep improving VidBlaster and making it the BEST product available!

Tonight we will be broadcasting a local event called "A Taste of Guitar". Local guitar students audition to be included in the line up. These talented musician's gain the experience of performing live on stage and showcase their abilities.

A special guest tonight is Richard Smith. Famed thumbpicker who played with Chet Atkins on stage at age 11. They became close friends and over the years played several times together. Richard was inducted into the National Thumbpickers Hall of Fame in 2009 and has received the Golden Thumbpick Award by the Association of Fingerstyle Guitarist.

The broadcast will be tonight Jan 19, 2012 at 6:30 PM ET USA. I know most of you European viewers will be sleeping so you can always later watch the recording.

This is my first post but I have been an avid reader of this forum for almost 2 years. I cannot express enough gratitude to the regular contributors for their in-depth insight and helpful discussions. I am a broadcasting newbie but having a lot of fun thanks to VidBlaster. Tom Sinclair. Martin Kay, Richard Gatarski, Daniel Lill, Julian Lee, Allen Blunt, and of course Mike Versteeg, just to name a few have taught me so much. Everything from "yes, you really need a mixing board" ;D to Martin's latest on 4:4:4 and can it really be achieved!

Thanks to all and I hope soon to do a behind the scenes look at our studio and setup.

Regards,
Glen Pierce

Good luck with the broadcast tonight, Glen :)

I shall certainly try to take a look at the recording if I can find it - I just tried to access www.topicsdesign.tv (http://www.topicsdesign.tv) but couldn't get to the site for some reason, although I did find Topics Design and mention of the Taste of Guitar event on Facebook, so that's a good start.

I have a CD of Chet Atkins & Mark Knopfler's sessions together (Neck & Neck) which is amongst my favourites, so it sounds like the sort of subject matter I'll be happy to watch.

Martin, thank you for the best wishes and especially for letting me know it was not loading for you. Over the past couple of weeks I noticed problems when using OpenDNS and found that I had DNS issues. Specifically with the SOA and NS records. Thank You very much!

The broadcast went extremely well. VidBlaster performed flawlessly for over 2 hours. The recorded quality was our best yet.

We had a global resolution of 864x480 and a frame rate of 29.97. We used FMLE to perform the broadcast to Bambuser. We recorded using VB's recorder module.

The recording can be seen here: http://topicsdesign.tv/index.php/a-taste-of-guitar-jan-19-2012/.

Thanks to Tom's repeated mantra of using a mixing board, I have 2 Behringers. One for the audio from the studio out to Behringer delay units (1-DSP110 & 1-FBQ100) into a final mixer for non-delayed audio (like from the PC for pre-recorded video).

When I first started out I didn't know the difference between SD and SDI. I now know that SD is a format and SDI is a protocol. I hope soon to be able to invest in some SDI cameras so I can get better strategic placement.

Richard Smith was amazing! So were the kids too! Richard plays the last 20 minutes of the program with some excellent travis picking. If you enjoy Chet Atkins and Mark Knoffler (also my favorite) then you will definitely enjoy Richard's playing.

Thanks again and please do let me now if the site does not load for you.

Thanks to all contributors of this forum for your expertise!

Regards,
Glen Pierce

Glen,
Congratulations to a really nice production! As Martin I could not access your site at first (actually planned to see the live cast). Now in hindsight I realize it is just extremely slow responding to access requests. I suggest that you consider moving it to a better web host, the content is worth it.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for your kind comments and suggestion! Now if I could figure out a way to make a buck at this I could have a lot more fun :)!

Thanks,
