I am evaluating VidBlaster for a Worship Video Recorder/Switcher installation. I am interfacing my Sony EVI-30 cameras with a Dazzel DV-Bridge on each channel and using a 1394 EEE Firewire card for each camera. Currently I am using a Dell P4 2.8 ghz with 2g mem and 100 gig hd (looking for a different PC but finding it VERY hard to locate one that supports enough PCI slots to interface for 4 cameras, most system boards that are Core 2 compliant are limited to 3 PCI slots and I need 4 1394 bridges, one per card, and a Serial interface card for camera control signals). I am able to get the system working and switch between cameras fine and recording is acceptable for video but the audio is a problem. I end up with one of two problems and would appreciate any assistance you can offer.
1) If I use the Background music feature, the only audio input selection I see is my SounMax sound chip (motherboard integrated). When I select it and apply external audio to Line-In jack the sound LEADS the video by 3/4 to 1 sec as it takes that long to process the video in the DV-Bridges. This aslo results in an audio lead in my recordings.
2) If I use the audio selections listed under the channel input property box, the DV compliant devices (all 4 of them) appear in both Viedo and audio input selections but when I use them and send the external audio into the DV-Bridge Audio analog input jacks there is no sound in system speakers or on the recordings.

Yes, I just Re-Downloaded v 1.7 just to make sure there were not any bugs from system in it.
I have switched to a HP a1512x PC to upgrade to dual core (Pentium D) 2.8 and 2 gigs of ram.
Video Card is embeded (Intel 954M chipset) and set to 256 megs of appeture,
Sound is coming in the "Line In" jack and is being handled on the mother board by a "Realtek High Definition Audio Chipset"
Cameras (4 ea) Sony EV-30, are being routed to PC through Analog to Digital convertors (Dazzle Dv Bridge) and feed into PC on "VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controlers (3 in PCI card slots and one on motherboard).
The Audio starts right off LEADING the video by 3/4 of a second and I do not see anyway to get them back in sync (e.g. an audio delay feature in the audio module of Vidblaster).
Ant assistance would be greatly appreciated.

A delay in video is normal and especially noticable when using firewire. To make things worse, your PC is below the minimum requirements so it will add extra delay.

I'm experiencing the same audio sync problem as Bill. Connecting through separate firewire cards in standard definition. Using VB 1.10 on a Core 2 Quad core 2.66 with 8 gigs of RAM. Using external mixer and going into the computer through line-in port. Do I understand correctly that this audio sync issue using firewire is to be expected for both live and recorded video? If that's the case, connecting your cameras through firewire for production purposes should not be promoted when using VB. I've setting up a webcasting studio for a client and purchased firewire cards to connect our cameras. Was that a mistake?

Thanks,
Michael D

No, just make sure you delay your audio with the same amount of time.

If you have a digital mixer it could be done there.

If not you can use something like this to delay the signal.
