View Full Version : video capture devices that work in 64 bit?
I've read about many capture devices that do not work in a 64 bit OS, but are there any that do? And if so, also in W7/64?
I got the EasyCap device to work on Vista 64 bit.
Thanks. Do you know which model? There are many, often distinguished by revision.
It is the DC60 which is not supposed to be compatible with 64bit but after install the third party driver it worked fine. Its a pretty bad capture device though. I never had luck with the audio capture either. I downloaded the driver from here I think. http://balashmusika.info/directories/0000.php
There are several "revisions" of the DC60, some claim to support 64 bit, some not. Did read somewhere that audio will not work in 64 bit and you need to use the sound card (irrelevant in VidBlaster). Since the device comes with audio input, this already indicates the drivers are so-so and cannot be taken very seriously.
Thanks for the info.

König USBVG5 works with 64bit Win7, see http://vidblaster.com/forum/index.php?topic=690.0
That's an EasyCap, and if it works wit 64 bit OS then it must be the Rev. 3. Do you use one or more?

I've got three. But don't really know their revision numbers. Do you know how to check? In any case I am not sure I have used all three of them on my 64bit machine, will do...
And by the way, I am currently forced to use 384x288 cause that's what my laptop can process, but I guess the frame grabber only give 320x240 as the "Info" says, or?
Yes. Did you try all three at the same time? That would be another improvement over earlier models.. I do not think you can see the revision number anywhere unfortunately, but I know Rev 1 & 2 were 32 bit only.

I have tried all three of my König's on Win7 64bit running VIDBlaster 1.07, and it works fine.
Printed on the PCB is "2007-12-20". Can't figure out their revision, this is the info I can get from the Device Manager:
Device name:
USB 2861 Device
Hardware Ids:
USB\VID_EB1A&PID_2861&REV_0100&MI_00
USB\VID_EB1A&PID_2861&MI_00
Manufacturer:
eMPIA Technology
I have installed the drivers from the BDA64 folder in the accompaning CD, and disabled the audio driver in Device manager.
Thanks Richard, good to know.
