I am planning to setup a Vidblaster workstation using decklink SDI input. I have tested with Vid 1.11b and find that the Info in the camera module always show “Decklink Video Capture 720x576 25fps” but the input is NTSC SD-SDI signal from Sony EX3. It does not show anything on the camera module when I adjust the all the necessary parameters in the module. The decklink card is working fine in using the Media express software comes ith the card. I have tried the solution from Chris in “Issues with Blackmagic Intensity card & Vidblaster” but without any success. Does the Decklink SDI card incompatible with Vidblaster?

Thanks

It might not be vidblaster. If your board is an x58 chipset that could the problem. For some reason they don't work with decklink x1 cards only the x4 extrema and the multibridge. I called decklink, they are working on it but have no solution.

Decklink tech support told me that some people have it working but could not give specifics.

I have contaced some people that have working decklink sdi on asus pt6 and pt7 mobos.

Did you set VidBlaster to NTSC resolution? The BM cards are very tricky and need some TLC. I think it can work, do a search on the forum as there are posts on this matter.

I have solved the problem. I can see the signal from the camera module (720x486 NTSC-SDI) when I reinstall the decklink sdi driver and Vidblaster. The signal disappear when I exit Vidblaster and Re-enter again. Finally, I have discovered the following solution:

1. Install Decklink SDI driver
2. Install Vidblaster
3. Use BlackMagic Media Express to set capture setting as NTSC and test the sdi signal.
4. Run Vidblaster
5. Change the resolution to 640x480 (SD NTSC)
6. Select Decklink as source in camera module
7. The sdi signal will be appeared in the camera module (720x486 29.97fps)
8. ** Before exit Vidblaster, change the source in the camera module from "Decklink Video Capture" to other (e.g. IP Camera)
9. Exit Vidblaster
10. Run Vidblaster
11. Change the source in the camera module to "Decklink Video Capture" and the sdi signal will be displayed correctly.

It seems that Vidlbaster will reset the internal setting of the Decklink driver from NTSC to PAL on exit. When I skip step 8 above and exit Vidblaster directly, the signal from the camera module will loss and the setting changed to (720x576 25fps) in step 10.
