Hi all - new to VB and the forum.

We are looking at using VB and multiple cameras for hockey games on Ustream. For portability we are considering a laptop, but I am wondering if a 3-port firewire card would allow us to run the three cams into VB?

I assume you read this (http://vidblaster.com/forum/index.php?topic=153.0) and did a search for "laptop cameras" which turns up this (http://vidblaster.com/forum/index.php?topic=119.0)? There's more in the software's Help too.

I read the first. What concerned me is "make sure to use inputs on seperate controllers to not overload the controller. That's why I asked about a 3-port PCMIA card.

I did a search for "laptop firewire" before posting, but didn't find the second thread. It doesn't seem to answer my concern about using a 3-port hub and any issues with a laptop.

From reading other threads, it appears a desktop may be the best way for us to proceed.

Just as a comment.
I use a Desktop i7 Dell with 8 gig ram...four cameras, 25 modules at once, and 640x360 and get super quality streaming to UStream. I tired even a Quad Core, and it doesn't meed my requirements.
It does if you only want two cameras and fewer modules..If you want to see how a Dell i7 works go to:

Hey Bill,
How about your link and maybe some archived videos of yours that we can look at. You have been with this a while. Let's see what you got. ;)

The amount of ports has noting to do with controllers, it almost allways one and the same controller for the 3 ports...
Do bee 100% shure the best way is the have 3 diffrent cards...

I used FireWire before, and it works if you don't have a distance between your VidBlaster machine, but if you want a distance... FireWire is not so good...
