OK, so I am playing around with 1.16 and chroma keying. In one profile I had two players,
P1: showing a video with a blue screen background
P2: showing just a blue jpg
In an effect module I did a PiP with players 2 and 1 as sources.

Then I added one more player
P3: showing juste the blue jpg

Then I changed source 1 in the effect from P2 to player P3.

Then I removed P2 (just to see if I got an access violation, which did not happen).

BUT, P3 was renamed to Player 2 and the effect module dropped source 1 (blank entry in drop down selection and black in window). Just to be sure I repeated this procedure three times, including restarting Vidblaster in between.

Seeing this I recalled noticing similar effects in 1.15. Furthermore, I also think that the modules are somehow renumbered when a profile is opened. Of course I am willing to put some work into checking that out further. But before that it would be nice to know if Mike has a hunch wethere there is a bug hanging around here. Or if anoyone else has run into this problem.

Renumbering is intentional. I realize it can brake links, but having a profile that start with Camera 3 and Player 2 seems more confusing. Even though you can do things hot, I still expect you to set the profile up before you start programming links etc.
